Donate jewelry through November 4, shop the Holiday Jewelry Sale on November 7, and bedazzle a book on November 12 — all at the Library
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library are bringing two sparkly events to the Library this November: a Jewelry Sale on Saturday, November 7, and a Book Bedazzle craft night on Thursday, November 12. Both take place at the Scotch Plains Public Library, and both support the programs, materials, and services the Friends fund for the Library all year long.
Jewelry Collection: Now Through Wednesday, November 4
We need your help stocking the sale! Through Wednesday, November 4, the Friends are collecting donated jewelry — necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, brooches, and pins, whether costume, vintage, or fine. Broken pieces and lonely single earrings are welcome too; they still raise money for the Library. Drop your donations at the circulation desk of the Scotch Plains Public Library anytime during regular Library hours. Every piece you’ve stopped wearing is a piece someone else will love, and the proceeds come right back to the community.
Jewelry Sale: Saturday, November 7,
9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Then come shop! The one-day Jewelry Sale fills the Library with hundreds of donated pieces, with a $1 bin for the bargain hunters and display pieces starting at just $2. The collectors among us will enjoy a treasure hunt of vintage and signed designer pieces. It’s the perfect place to get a head start on holiday gifts — or to treat yourself… we won’t tell. Venmo, PayPal, and credit cards are accepted. Friends volunteers will be on hand to help you find the perfect piece, and every dollar raised goes directly to the Scotch Plains Public Library.
Book Bedazzle: Thursday, November 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
You’ve seen those blinged-out books all over your social feed — now make your own. At Book Bedazzle, bring a favorite book (hardcover or softcover) and transform its cover with rhinestones and gems. All supplies are provided, and zero crafting experience is required; we’ll walk you through the techniques step by step. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind keepsake or a holiday gift nobody else is giving.
Book Bedazzle is $15 per person, and is suitable for pre-teen through adult crafters. Registration is required. Spots are limited, so reserve yours early HERE.
